Hospitalised!

Little O was hospitalised for bronchitis and mild pneumonia. Poor baby had tons of medicine to take and had to be put on drip. His hand had to be bandaged so that he couldn't pull out the needles.

It was a traumatising experience for me. He was carried into a room where I was denied entry. I stood outside the locked door, with curtains drawn, hearing him screaming and calling for Mommy.

For 4 days we stayed in the hospital and we had to administer the nebuliser on him every 2 or 3 hours throughout the day and night. The stupid nebuliser gave out such a loud and scary sound, so whenever Little O heard the sound he would turn hysterical. You need at least 2 adults to restrain him before we could administer the medication on him. It was heart wrenching hearing him scream throughout the process.

This is how the nebuliser looks like. Little O was definitely not as calm as the kid in the picture.

On the 2nd night, I noticed that his bandaged hand was swollen. Due to the position of needle, the medicine didn't go through, hence his hand became swollen. I had the nurse remove the bandage for him and I could see his little fingers because little taiwan sausages! For the whole night, he kept whining to me, telling me that his hand was very painful (of course in his own words) and he couldn't even lift his hand up.

Little O: "Mommy, ouch."
Little O looking at his own hand, and started to pout with tears forming in his eyes.

After 4 days, he was finally discharged! Any longer, Mommy will go crazy from the lack of sleep. However, to my dismay, we still had to administer the nebuliser every 4 hours at home. It was really tough getting up at 4am to administer the nebuliser on him. Thank goodness Little O did not struggle like he did in the hospital.

Being at home didn't make things much easier. Little O wanted to be carried around and only Mommy could carry him. Nobody else was allowed to touch him. Even feeding, changing of diapers, washing of backside could only be done by Mommy!

I hope when he recovers, things will be better.

Car keys can be used to unlock everything!

Reached home early yesterday to find Little O in his shoes ready to go out.

Me: Where are you going?
Little O: Out!
Me: Who is bringing you out?
Little O: Daddy!
Me: But Daddy is not home. He is in school.

Little O ignored me and proceeded to the front gate to wait for his Daddy.

Me: Owen, daddy is not coming home yet.
Little O: Keys!
Me: Okay.

Didn't expect Little O to use the car keys and try to unlock the gate. Wonder where he learn that from.

Little O: Mommy, di di.
Me: Owen, do you want to have a 妹妹?
Little O: Nooo...(shakes head)
Me: Owen, do you want to have a 弟弟?
Little O: Yah...(nods head)
Me: But Mommy wants a 妹妹.
Little O: Mommy 妹妹. Owen 弟弟.

How appropriate! Little O rules over both Daddy and Mommy now!

Playing with high heels next

This morning as I was taking my high heels out of the shoe cabinet, Little O came to me indicating that he wanted to try on my heels.

Goodness, this kid is obsessed with wearing adult shoes!

Anyway after he was done with the heels, he passed the heels back to me.

*Update: today i went home, and owen tiptoed to me. I asked if he wanted to wear Mommy's heels, he actually nodded! Faint!

Playing with slippers

Caught Little O trying to put on Yeh Yeh's slippers one day. He was totally immersed in the task and oblivious to me being in the background.

Little O in rashes

Little O was down with flu over the weekend. Today, he woke up with rashes all over his face and body! PD said it was due to his flu virus and that he should be recovering soon.

Don't think he can go round attracting girls in this state! Poor baby.

Little O at Little Gym

Brought Little O to the Little Gym in Marina Square on Sat. He was the only one (among the walkers) who was running around like crazy and entertaining himself. In fact, he had so much fun, he began a wrestling mania, knocking himself and other kids down!

He loved the part when Teacher Amy was blowing soap bubbles. Previously when we first introduced soap bubbles to Little O, he would just stand still and stared at the soap bubbles around him, not daring to move at all. It was only after Jiu Jiu told him that he was allowed to touch the bubbles, then he realised that he could actually run after the bubbles and burst them!

Little O was so active during the 45 minute session. I felt like I had a workout as well just by watching him.

The great pretender

Today Little O was very naughty. He turned the main switch off while we were still watching the TV. I shouted "No" to him, but he was too fast. However, he got a shock from my shouting and knocked over Nai Nai's Christmas tree, breaking all the little lightings on the tree. Yes, the Christmas tree is still around because Little O likes to see the tree being lit up at night.

I was angry with the mess that Little O created and gave him a spanking on his butt. It took me at least 3 spanks before he felt the pain, but he only cried for like 5 seconds!

Later, while Little O was eating his fruits on his highchair, I swear I heard him called out, "Hey, Mama!" I turned to him and he gave me his cheeky look, and pretended to cry. He went on to call Yeh Yeh and Nai Nai and did the same thing! It was so funny and he had the whole family laughing.

Rubbish creator

Nowadays, Little O is obsessed with picking rubbish up from the ground and throwing them into the dustbin. Sometimes, he can pick up items that are really tiny even though I can’t see them.

Last Saturday, he was going around the porch area looking for rubbish to throw. After clearing all the rubbish that he could find, he decided to create more rubbish just so that he would be able to throw them!

He went around pulling leaves from Nai Nai’s plants and throwing them into the bin. Hopefully Nai Nai doesn't notice that her plants are balding.

Moonwalk

Little O has learnt to walk backwards recently. On some days I will catch him assessing the area around him, making sure that he has plenty of space before walking backwards. However, his spatial estimation still needs lots of polishing.

I bet in no time he'll be able to do Michael Jackson's moonwalk. What a way to charm the girls, right?

Brought Little O to the Telok Kurau park last Sunday early morning. There were only 2 of us at the playground, so it was good bonding time for us.

Found a swing that allowed him sit securely by himself without falling off, and he absolutely loved it!

Tummy seat

Last night Little O was playing with Daddy before bedtime. Daddy became tired from the play and laid down to take a rest. Little O must have been disappointed with Daddy's lack of stamina and decided to give Daddy a hard whack on the tummy. It sounded really painful and Daddy got a shock.

Not sure when Little O started the habit of hitting people and it seems like the greater our reaction from him hitting us, the more excited he becomes. :s

As if the whack was not enough, Little O decided to sit on Daddy's tummy as well! So naughty.

Got milk?

Little O and I went to the baby fair in Expo last Saturday. We stopped at 1 stall that was selling the toy - Rollipop Advance and Little O spent a good 5-minute playing with the toy by himself. The toy was supposed to help little kids develop their hand-and-eye coordination because they have to place some balls into a hole and observe the balls rolling down the designated path.

However after awhile,  Little O was bored of the toy and decided to take the balls away instead!

Brought Little O to Cedele on Sunday morning and ordered babycinno for him. The tiny cup of frothy milk cost $1.50 and he didn't even like it! I couldn't resist taking a few pictures of him and his milk moustache, but he just wouldn't sit still for me to take the photos.

Does anyone want to hire Little O for "Got Milk" campaign?

Dead tired

Daddy told me something funny last night. Even though I was not there to witness the incident, I could totally imagine what he described. Here's what happened:

Yesterday afternoon Daddy brought Little O out for lunch, not realising that Little O was really tired because he played too hard in the morning. Halfway while feeding Little O, he saw Little O's eyelids closing. Silly Daddy even thought that Little O was enjoying the food so much that he was doing the "closing of eyes and mouthing mmm" act.

The next moment Daddy heard a thump! When he turned towards Little O, he saw Little O's head was the table because he fell asleep while eating (too bad Daddy did not take a photo of Little O then). As it was an uncomfortable position for Little O to sleep, he started wailing. Daddy had to shove his food down his throat so that he could bring Little O home as soon as possible.

By the time Daddy brought Little O to the car and put him on the car seat, he was barely awake. Even before Daddy drove out of the carpark, Little O was completely knocked out!

Girls with long hair

Little O has a thing for girls with long hair. When he goes to the park, he will pay attention to only girls with long hair and "bo-chup" the rest. He is particularly fond of his 10-year-old girlfriend, Renee, who lives like four houses away from us. Sometimes when we are at the park, I will ask if he sees Renee Jie-Jie around. If she is not there, he will shake his head.

I heard from my mother-in-law (Nai-Nai) that Renee once went out with the family (minus Daddy and me) to St Regis for dinner. After dinner, they went to the hotel room, which they booked for the night, to bathe Little O. They asked Renee if she wanted to join Little O in his bath and she jumped at the chance immediately. She took off her clothes without hesitation and had a splashing good time with Little O in the bathtub!

Daddy and I would like to say that we brought up Little O well because he was completely unfazed by the tempting naked beauty before him and did not leave her crying after the night was over. :)

Yesterday, I went to the park and found him there with Renee and Ian (Renee's elder brother). It was work week for the scouts and brownies, so they asked if they could take care of Little O for 1 hour. Daddy said yes, and they brought him to the park to play (under the supervision of Nai-Nai of course). They took good care of Little O, so I will give them 5 stars for the job well done!

Not bad, Little O, you let the girl do the driving!

Friendly baby

Little O has been a really friendly baby these days (as compared to when he was much younger). He will give you a goofy smile when asked to and lets practically anybody carry him, regardless of race, language and religion. Little O's Por Por will say "so jialat, mang-ka-li also can carry him".

Here's a video of him showing his skills of laughing, crying and smiling!

He called Daddy loud and clear

Okay, so here's my first post on my 15-month old baby, Owen Ho (Little O).

Background
1) Cherry (Little O's nanny) played us out. 2 weeks ago, she flew back to The Philippines. On the day when she was supposed to come back to SG, we received a text from her saying that she will not be coming back to work for us.

2) It had been very tiring (more so for Daddy and my MIL because they had been staying at home) looking after Little O for the past 2 weeks, taking care of his feeding, bathing, playing, etc.

3) With Cherry now gone, Little O has turned into a sticky monster! He refuses to let me out of his sight. If he sees me leaving for work, he'll start crying. I can only sneak away when he is distracted.

Taking the above into consideration, I decided that there was a need for a BCP plan - Little O must be comfortable with others taking care of him and without mommy around. If Daddy and I decide to go on a holiday without Little O, he needs to comfortable with staying with his grandparents.

Therefore, last Sunday morning, I asked my dad (Gong Gong) to fetch Little O from my place to theirs (I needed to assess if Little O was comfortable going out without Mommy). Both Daddy and I would turn up later for lunch. I was afraid that he would start crying once Gong Gong drove off. But according to Gong Gong, he was very well behaved! Well done, Little O!

When Daddy and I reached my parents' place for lunch, Little O saw us at the door. He walked towards us and called "Da-Tih" loud and clear, before walking away! What? No "Ma-ma" or hugs for me? Heh. Nevermind, I'm pretty sure Daddy's heart melted when Little O called out to him.
